Flow meter according to Moore

Representation of the measuring device

The Moore discharge meter is a test device for measuring the roughness of road surfaces and thus allows conclusions to be drawn about the grip . The device consists of a glass cylinder with a measuring scale. At the lower end of the glass cylinder there is a weight ring and an outlet opening, which is provided with a rubber seal. With the help of this device, the outflow time of a defined amount of water is determined, which emerges from the cylinder below the sealing ring on the road surface. The outflow time is based on the roughness of the road surface.

When checking the grip (more precisely the precision roughness) with the SRT pendulum , the Moore discharge meter must be used to determine the macro-roughness.
