Tommi Nikkilä (born June 16, 1977 in the rural community of Jyväskylä , Finland ) is a Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with HK Ertis Pawlodar in the Kazakh ice hockey championship.

Career

Tommi Nikkilä started his career in the youth department of the Finnish team Pelikaanit Vaajakoski. Before the 1995/96 season he moved to the U20 junior team of the Finnish first division club JYP Jyväskylä , where he played for three seasons. In 1998 Nikkilä signed a contract with Jokipojat in the Finnish second division . There, too, he guarded the gate for three years before moving to league rivals Mikkelin Jukurit in 2001 .

The 2002/03 season was so far the statistically best season of his career. After two seasons at Jukurit, he made it to the Finnish first division in 2003 . There he signed a contract with JYP, which was renewed twice in the following years. In the 2005/06 season he played only six games due to a serious injury. After his contract expired, he moved to Tappara , where he again completed two seasons. In 2008 he signed a contract with the Pelicans , where he was under contract until 2010.

In the summer of 2010 he tried to get a commitment abroad for the first time and switched to HC Pustertal from the A1 series . For the 2011/12 season, the Finn was hired by the Danish first division club Esbjerg IK , where Nikkilä was the third goalkeeper. In November 2011 he ended his engagement in Denmark and before the end of 2011 he returned to Mikkelin Jukurit in the Mestis, for whom the goalkeeper was active from 2001 to 2003.
