Compensatory dialect
Under compensation dialect one is dialect understood that has mostly made in areas where speakers of different dialects clashed; often in colonial areas. Pennsylvania Dutch is actually a compensatory dialect in which mainly elements from the Upper Palatinate have prevailed. Another example is the North Indian- based compensatory dialects that originated in colonial areas where speakers of different Indian dialects met. The result is mostly more or less similar to the Hindi (e.g. in Suriname or Mauritius ). Even New High German was originally a just written compensatory dialect.
