A pronunciation database provides information on the correct pronunciation of words, especially proper names and place names in foreign languages ​​( exonyms ).

In the German-speaking area, for example, these are the ARD pronunciation database , which is made available internally, and the Austrian German pronunciation database (ADABA), which was developed at the University of Graz and covers all three variants of Standard German (Austrian, German and Swiss Standard German) . BAS GEO1 is a pronunciation database for the names of German-speaking places, recorded in the phonetic auxiliary script SAMPA .

For the Dutch of Belgium there is a database called Fonilex which can display the 200,000 most frequently used word forms phonetically.
