The equipment aid or equipment aid program , abbreviated to AH or AH-P , is a program of the German Federal Government to provide other states in the military and police sector with equipment. Weapons , ammunition and machines that can produce weapons and ammunition are excluded from the equipment aid. Structural measures are also occasionally supported financially. The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Defense , the Foreign Office and the Ministry of the Interior and has been running since 1961. The aid is divided into 3 areas: Equipment aid for foreign armed forces, for which there is a 4-year cycle and currently mainly goes to African countries, General Police Equipment Aid and equipment assistance for drug control authorities .
