List of breeds of chicken

Australorps are a breed of domestic chicken that was bred in Australia around 1920 . The parent races of this breed are not entirely certain. But they are probably black Orpington and American Croad-Langschan .

description

Australorps are a typical dual-purpose breed , as they have good fattening ability, high meat quality, very good laying performance and heavy eggs. They are therefore very suitable for small businesses and self-caterers. The breed was exported to the USA as early as the 1920s and included in the American standard in 1929. The breed has been represented in Germany since 1950 and received the breed standard in 1952.

Characteristic for the Australorps is the massive trunk, the deep black eyes and the horizontal position of the back. The cock of the cock is richly provided with major and minor sickles. Both sexes have a bulging chest. So far there are only a few shades of color. In the most common type, the chickens have greenish-black shimmering plumage. There are also dwarf Australorps that are looked after by the same special association.

character

Australorps are usually docile and calm animals. They like to be touched and feel at home in the enclosure as well as in an exhibition hall. Furthermore, the hens are caring chicks and are ideally suited for breeding.
