Autism Forum Switzerland is an association with headquarters in Adliswil ZH. The purpose is the exchange and networking of people with autism and their relatives as well as experts and interested parties. The most important fields of activity of the organization are a moderated forum, campaigns to raise awareness of society and various projects for a better quality of life for people with autism.

People with autism, relatives and experts are represented on the board. All activities are based on volunteer work and donations.

Guiding principle

The association is committed to ensuring that people with autism lead their lives independently and self-determinedly and can actively participate in social life and are not disadvantaged.

founding

On April 2, 2010, World Autism Day , the Internet forum went online. The opportunity for exchange was quickly used and a community formed with members from all German-speaking cantons. The association was founded in December 2011 with an entry in the commercial register.

Awareness campaign

Poster “Going to the hairdresser - what you take for granted is a difficult test for people with autism. That is why they depend on your understanding and support. "

In the summer of 2012, the association addressed the public with an awareness campaign “More understanding for people with autism” . With the inclusion of people with a diagnosis of autism, it was possible, in their own opinion, to draw attention to various aspects of autism which, in their own opinion, had never been communicated in this clear and clear way in Switzerland.

The campaign consists of advertisements / posters, radio spots and a cinema / TV spot. It is one of the most award-winning campaigns in Switzerland in 2012 and won a. a. Silver and two bronze medals from the Art Directors Club Switzerland.

goals and tasks

The association works for more participation of people with autism in society.

  • The Internet forum enables individual contact between people affected by autism. The moderation of the forum ensures the quality of the contributions. Autism-specific expertise is brought in using special topics and series of articles.
  • The awareness campaign “More understanding for people with autism” and articles in the media draw attention to the great challenges that people with autism and their relatives face in everyday life.
  • With the help of projects and information campaigns, Autism Forum Switzerland advocates the implementation of rights (e.g. compensation for disadvantages in exams for pupils with autism) and a better quality of life for people with disabilities (e.g. personal assistance for people with autism) .
