The so-called dynamic construction model of AutoCAD Civil 3D has the effect that changes at one point and in any phase in the project are automatically tracked throughout the project, so that the projects can be processed faster and more precisely. Project participants work with intelligent data links or with the help of Autodesk Vault on the basis of the same data model and thus benefit from uniform and always up-to-date project data.
In contrast to the basic product AutoCAD, CAD basic elements are not constructed, but intelligent objects for infrastructure planning, such as B. Digital Terrain Model (DTM), construction pits , road axes, longitudinal sections, cross sections, 3D profile bodies, sewer supports and manholes, etc., which interact with the other objects. The advantage for users is faster planning and planning changes.
AutoCAD Civil 3D includes the complete functionality of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Map 3D, the geographic information system solution from Autodesk. As an open system, Civil 3D supports the industry standards DWG , DXF , DWF , DGN and LandXML.
In addition to the basic version, the installation of program extensions with regional reference is essential. So-called country kits are used to adapt an installation to the respective target market. This means that templates, design parameters, object catalogs and view styles are imported so that planning documents can be created in accordance with the local templates. The "DACH-Extension" is still available for the German-speaking area, which contains further functions for the road design, automation for the drawing up of plans and the data exchange via certain formats (REB, OKSTRA and ISYBAU).
AutoCAD Civil 3D is used as training software at various universities and technical colleges. Schoolchildren and students can freely download and use AutoCAD Civil 3D.
There is no function for landfill construction to copy DTMs in a given layer thickness parallel to the slope. In the case of different inclinations, simply lifting the DGM is not sufficient (function often required in landfill construction).
