Autoimmune / Inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the autoimmune / inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (English: autoimmune / inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants , short: ASIA ) various autoimmune diseases are summarized. ASIA was postulated in 2011 by the Israeli immunologist Yehuda Shoenfeld .

background

According Shoenfelds hypothesis, the syndrome is intended to include, inter alia, the following diseases: autoimmune diseases , sick building syndrome , Macrophagic Myofasciitis , Gulf War Syndrome , Silikonose and generally such symptoms after vaccination (especially HPV vaccine may occur). Shoenfeld also considers Sjogren's Syndrome to be part of ASIA. ASIA is said to be triggered by chronic exposure to silicone , but also substances such as tetramethylpentadecane , aluminum- containing adjuvants or adjuvants contained in vaccinations, and infectious components. ASIA could manifest itself within days, but also after 23 years.

reception

ASIA represents a previously hypothetical concept, as the phenomenon could neither be reproducibly proven in studies nor a causal relationship confirmed after vaccinations. For example, a study carried out on over 18,000 patients did not reveal any evidence for the existence of ASIA. Patients who received specific immunotherapy with allergens containing aluminum even had fewer autoimmune diseases than the comparison group with (aluminum-free) conventional treatment.

It is also criticized that the syndrome is far too broad and can in fact affect the whole population. Animal studies are also methodologically flawed, and several ASIA-supporting studies have been withdrawn due to quality deficiencies.

According to the assessment of medical societies, the WHO , the EMA and others , the fact that autoimmune diseases are caused by vaccinations, especially HPV vaccines, is considered refuted. In general, all studies on the incidence of autoimmune diseases in vaccinated versus unvaccinated populations have not shown an increased risk of such diseases in connection with vaccinations.
