Duration of training
The training usually lasts three years and takes place in the dual system . The prerequisite is that the training company and the responsible HWK agree.

During the apprenticeship as a vehicle painter, both an intermediate exam must be completed before the end of the second year of training and a final exam at the end of the apprenticeship.

The final examination consists of two parts, with the candidate in the first part performing and documenting a task that corresponds to a customer order and holding a technical discussion lasting a maximum of 15 minutes. In Part II of the final examination, the examination areas coating technology and design, repair and maintenance as well as economics and social studies must be completed.

In Switzerland, the profession is currently called bodywork paint shop EFZ . The training lasts four years. The previous occupation was the car painter, whose training lasted three years.
