Automatic drivetrain management

The Automatic Drivetrain Management (ADM) is a fully automatic control of all switching functions in the drive train for commercial vehicles and consists of mechanics , electronics and software . The driving conditions are measured via sensors and CAN bus networking and the corresponding switching is activated.

The system detects independently on each wheel whether there is any slip . If slip is detected, all the required axle locks and longitudinal locks are automatically activated in order to guarantee 100% of the possible traction . The locks switch themselves off again after a defined time interval. The system is similar to that of traction control in cars, but has more axles to manage on commercial vehicles and also includes all-wheel drive in trucks .

history

The idea and the development of the automatic drive train control originated in 1991 at the Austrian Steyr Daimler Puch AG, whose drive technology division was sold to ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 1998 . Development and sales have been at the former ZF Passau GmbH since 2006 , which was merged with ZF Friedrichshafen AG in August 2011.
