The Automobile Club of Switzerland is an association within the meaning of the Swiss Civil Code . Its purpose is to protect the transport, economic, tourist and sporting interests of its members. He is also involved in other automotive fields of interest.

The entire club is divided into 20 sections, which are also organized in the legal form of an association.

The association was founded on December 6, 1898 in Geneva . It offers its members various types of insurance and organizes so-called “drive events”. He pays particular attention to road traffic legislation and its application. In addition, the problem of road safety has been one of the main activities of the ACS since its inception. The “Safe See” campaign is supported by the Road Safety Fund. The ACS recommends the rescue cards so that rescuers can rescue the injured more quickly after an accident. The Swiss Transport Club was founded in 1979 as a reaction to the ACS and TCS's one-sided motorized transport policy .

Driving courses

As part of its mandate, the ACS offers driving courses for various means of motorized private transport in accordance with the statutes.

Racing events

The ACS also takes part in various car races, such as the Arosa ClassicCar , where it acts as the official co-organizer. He finds the ban on circuit racing in place in Switzerland a "curiosity".
