The Melle car museum is located in Melle in the district of Osnabrück . In the listed halls of an old furniture factory, almost 3000 m² of space is available on three floors, of which two floors can be used as exhibition space and one floor as a fund. The Melle automobile museum shows between 250 and 350 vehicles from the beginnings of the automobile to exhibits of more recent or historical significance.
History and organization
In 1984 the car museum was founded in Ibbenbüren . In 1997 it moved to the premises of the former Melchersmann furniture factory on Meller Pestelstrasse. Around 2000 different historical vehicles have been presented on loan so far. It is organized in the form of a non-profit, limited liability company . It has 24 equal partners, one of which is the city of Melle . The museum only has volunteers.
concept
Owners of interesting automobiles are approached with the request to lend their vehicles to the automobile museum. Only vehicles that are ready to drive are accepted for a maximum of six months, after which the vehicles should be used again.
