Authority of Persoonsgegevens
The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), called College Bescherming Persoonsgegevens (CBP) until 2016 , is the Dutch data protection authority based in The Hague . It was founded in 1958.
The AP monitors compliance with the laws that regulate the use of personal data . It must be consulted every time personal data is used, unless this is explicitly excluded. The AP is in its work acc. Art. 28 of Directive 95/46 / EC (Data Protection Directive) independently.
It makes recommendations on legislative projects, conducts public relations work, investigates complaints and cooperates with other data protection authorities beyond national borders.
The AP is a member of the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party as well as the International Conference of Commissioners for Data Protection and the Protection of Privacy . Its current chairman was Jacob Kohnstamm . Aleid Wolfsen has been the chairman since August 1, 2016 .
