The International Conference of Data Protection Commissioner and the protection of privacy , shortly International Conference of Data Protection Officer or International Data Protection Conference ( Engl. International Conference of Data Protection & Privacy Commissioners , abbreviated ICDPPC ), is an annual international conference, which since 1979 Deals with data protection issues.

In addition to 115 representatives from national data protection authorities, the group of participants also includes representatives from states without independent data protection control bodies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and representatives from science and industry. The data protection authorities, which are accredited by a five-person executive committee according to a certain procedure , draw up resolutions on current data protection policy and data protection law issues with the aim of influencing and standardizing international legislation. The resolution on international standards for the protection of privacy in 2009 was particularly significant.

At the 26th Conference (2004), the Korean Information Security Authority, the Catalan Data Protection Agency and the European Data Protection Supervisor were accepted as new members.

International and supranational bodies only have voting rights if they have been given this in the accreditation process. This is the case with the European Data Protection Supervisor, for example.

At the 27th conference (2005), the Luxembourg data protection authority Commission Nationale pour la Protection des Données (CNPD), the information and data protection officer of Saskatchewan (Canada), the data protection officer of the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft and the data protection officer of the Basque Country (Spain ) suggested for inclusion.

Within the international data protection conference, there are working groups that are dedicated to specific subject areas, such as the International Working Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications for the area of telecommunications.

The Article 29 data protection group acts on the European level , in Germany the conference of the independent data protection authorities of the federal and state governments .

With effect from November 15, 2019, the international conference has given itself a new name and is now called Global Privacy Assembly .
