Autoroute info

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Autoroute Info (German: Autobahninfo ) is the name given to radio stations in France that broadcast traffic information to drivers around the clock at regular intervals (15-minute intervals).

The motorway radio stations are programs generally run by the companies that operate French private motorways; this applies to Radio Vinci Autoroutes and Autoroute Info . These four stations are private radio broadcasters . Only the radio station Sanef 107.7 is operated by the state broadcaster Radio France . It mainly supplies the public motorway routes and in the network of the SANEF motorway company in northern France.

Channel

The following three stations can be heard:

  • Radio Vinci Autoroutes (motorway network of the French south and west - Cofiroute , Arcour , ASF and the Escota )
  • Sanef 107.7 (network of the Paris-Normandie motorway company - SAPN and SANEF )
  • Autoroute info ( APRR motorway network Paris-Rhine-Rhone and Rhone-Alps network - AREA )

program

In addition to the traffic information sent every quarter of an hour, the stations broadcast light music of all genres. Are on the hour - partly in cooperation with the state-owned news channel France Info of Radio France sent short messages and weather information. Often there are also articles about tourist destinations and events along the routes of the respective broadcasting areas and traffic-related information and tips on driving behavior. Music and contributions are immediately interrupted by current danger reports if necessary. Road closures, diversion recommendations and large traffic jams are often announced in English and German after the French traffic announcement during peak travel times.

Regional assignment

Depending on the motorway network section used, that motorway radio station can be received to whose network the motorway section being driven belongs to. Some channels are regionalized, i. H. divided into a 107.7 FM network western and eastern zone. This reduces the coverage area and shortens the length of the traffic information blocks. Are rush hours in traffic over - e.g. B. during the night - the two zones are interconnected.

distribution

The motorway radio stations are broadcast via thousands of underperforming converters along the motorways and expressways. The converters are at a distance of seven kilometers. You can thus be received on the highways and in the immediate vicinity of them, so that many cities and municipalities that are located far from highways are not supplied by one of the highway transmitters.

All these radio stations can be heard all over France along the highways in a single frequency network on the same VHF frequency - 107.7 MHz. This has the advantage that - as is customary in Germany - traffic radio transmitters do not have to be searched for for the respective region (federal state) passed through, which is less of a distraction for motorists. For example, when entering France, 107.7 MHz can be set; the reception ends when you leave France at the border. The car radio searches for the motorway radio station responsible for the section of the motorway that is being used.

Eon function automatically switches to 107.7

In order to receive traffic information, travelers do not have to listen to the music program of the motorway stations. When traffic information or danger reports are sent, the car radio automatically switches to 107.7 MHz, if the radio has an eon function (Enhanced Other Networks) and, secondly, the VF or traffic function on the car radio is switched on and thirdly, one of the Radio France channels France Inter , France Culture , France Musique , France Info , France Bleu or Le Mouv ' is heard.

Cost and Receptability

The service is unencrypted and free of charge. It can be used via conventional car radios.
