France Musique is the classical and jazz program of the public radio broadcaster Radio France , which is mainly broadcast terrestrially in France . In between there is news on the hour. At night, France Vivace took over the classical music program until it was discontinued on August 30, 2010 .

The joint broadcasts of concerts with some of the ARD radio stations (“German-French Concerts”) deserve special mention . In this context, concerts of classical music are regularly broadcast live and presented in German and French. Hr2 , WDR 3 , MDR Figaro and SR 2 Kulturradio , partly also Deutschlandradio Kultur , take part in this program exchange . For example, the broadcasts of the Friday evening concerts of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra from the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main are also regularly transferred to France Musique .

The program was founded in 1954 and was broadcast using FM technology, which was new at the time . France Musique can now also be received via satellite and on the Internet . Since July 1, 2008, the stations of Radio France, and thus also France Musique, could no longer be received via satellite, after there was initially no agreement with CanalSat regarding the contract extension. On January 20, 2009, however, the programs of Radio France were reactivated on their previous frequencies. Since then, France Musique can also be received via satellite again.
