Auvergnian language

Auvergnati (Auvergnat: Auvernhat ; French: Auvergnat ) is a regional variant of Occitan spoken in the Auvergne part of the Massif Central .

As early as the Middle Ages, the Auvergne language was perceived as an independent form of language and called "langue d'Auvergne". The dialect is also known outside France through the folk songs by Joseph Canteloubes .
