The Avadis Investment Foundation , based in Zurich, is a Swiss investment foundation . Its purpose is the collective investment and management of its Swiss pension funds as patrons entrusted pension assets .

Field of activity

The foundation invests in all forms of investment approved for the investment of pension funds. These are essentially investments in the form of bonds , stocks and real estate and, to a lesser extent, in the form of private equity and hedge funds , whereby within these groups there is a further fine division into computationally independent investment groups.

As of July 2017, the investment foundation had 105 co-founders and net assets of over 10 billion Swiss francs across various investment groups. This makes the Avadis Investment Foundation the largest investment foundation in Switzerland that is independent of banks and insurance companies.

history

The foundation was established in 1995 under the name Asea Brown Boveri Investment Foundation by the Swiss industrial group Asea Brown Boveri . In 1999 the name was changed to ABB Investment Foundation . Associated with this was the opening of an investment foundation for employees and relatives of Asea Brown Boveri and its subsidiaries to an investment foundation for pension funds outside the ABB Group. In 2003 the name was changed to Avadis Investment Foundation .

In 2008 the Avadis Investment Foundation (AST) established Investment Foundation 2 (AST2). It is used to enable the foundations that qualify under the double taxation agreement between Switzerland and the USA to reclaim full withholding tax on US dividends. The investment processes and the asset managers are identical to those of the previous foundation. The investment foundation (AST / AST2) is managed by Avadis Vorsorge AG, which was founded in 1999.

Legal bases

The legal basis is formed by foundation law on the one hand, and the Federal Law on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors 'and Disability Pension Plans (BVG) and the Ordinance on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans (BVV 2). As an investment foundation, Avadis is subject to the supervision of the Federal Social Insurance Office . The regulatory basis is formed by the document Requirements for investment foundations drawn up by the Occupational Pensions Authority (ABV) of the Federal Social Insurance Office . In addition, the legal basis also includes the articles of association, the regulations and the investment guidelines of the Avadis Investment Foundation.

organization

The highest foundation body is the co-founders' meeting. The voting rights of the individual co-founders are based on their share of the total fixed assets. The twelve-member board of trustees is the highest executive body of the Avadis Investment Foundation. This is elected for two years by the co-founders' meeting. The management is responsible for operational management.
