history
Maloschuika was created in the late 1930s during the construction of the Oboserski - Soroka railway line (now Belomorsk ). The station was named after the eponymous around 4 kilometers north village, today called Abramowskaja ( Абрамовская carries). In 1943, Maloschuika was given urban-type settlement status. In 1949 (according to other information in 1955) the Maloschuika narrow-gauge railway ( Малошуйская узкоколейная железная дорога ), which was built by prisoners, was opened. Until 1970, a line of the narrow-gauge railway led southwest to Peringosero ( Перингозеро ) and the uninhabited settlement of Cholmy ( Холмы ), both of which were used for forestry. In 1970 these narrow-gauge lines were dismantled and the Peringosero settlement closed. The second stretch to the south was also used to transport timber, but it turned out to be unprofitable after the construction of a road and was also dismantled in 2006.
