Ilyinsko-Podomskoje ( Russian Ильи́нско-По́домское ) is a village (Selo) in northwestern Russia . It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 3682 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). The Selo is the administrative center of the 6,310 km² Wilegodski rajon .

Ilyinsko-Podomskoje is located in the southeast of Arkhangelsk Oblast, a good 530 kilometers southeast of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk . The nearest town, Koryashma , is located about 48 km northwest of Ilyinsko-Podomskoye. The 321 km long river Wiled ( Виледь ) runs through the Selo .

history

Ilyinsko-Podomskoje was founded in 1379 with the creation of a parish by the Russian missionary Stefan von Perm . It is not known whether a settlement existed in the area of ​​today's Selo before the missionary work. In the 16th century, the area came under the influence of the Stroganov family of Russian merchants . Ilyinsko-Podomskoye became a trading post for traders on the way from Moscow to Siberia and was converted into a fortress to protect it.

In 1924 Ilyinsko-Podomskoye became the administrative center of the newly established Vilegodsky rajon and in 1937 it became part of Arkhangelsk Oblast.

The economy of Ilyinsko-Podomskoye is mainly based on timber, agriculture and the food industry. The nearest railway station is located 33 km northwest of Wiled ( Станция Виледь ) on the Kotlas - Mikun railway on the Pechora Railway .
