Dvinskoi ( Russian Двинской ) is a settlement in northwestern Russia . The place belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 2543 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). Dwinskoi belongs administratively to the Verkhnoyemsky Raion .

geography

Dvinskoy is located about 350 kilometers southeast of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk . The place is located on the right bank of the Northern Dvina , opposite the river island Shoromsky ( Остров Шоромский ). In the north, the river Bolshaya Swaga ( Большая Свага ) borders the place and flows a few kilometers downstream on the right side into the Northern Dvina. The nearest town is the Verkhnyaya Toima Rajon Administrative Center , which is about ten kilometers north of Dvinskoy.

history

The Dvinskoy settlement was established in the late 1950s under the name Utschastok Kornilowo ( Участок Корнилово , German property Kornilov ). The reclamation and development of the land began in September 1958. In the spring of 1959, 43 settlers were already living in the area. A year later a primary school and a brick factory near the Dwina were built.

Dvinskoi had urban-type settlement status until 2003 . In the course of an administrative reform it lost this status and has been a settlement ever since. Dvinskoi is the center of the municipality Dvinskoje selskoje posselenije ( Двинское сельское поселение ), which covers an area of ​​1305 km² with eight villages (three of them uninhabited) and a total of 2852 inhabitants (as of 2010).
