Oksowski ( Russian Оксовский ) is an urban-type settlement in northwestern Russia . The place belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 2051 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). It is located in Rajon Plesetsk .
geography
Oksowski is located on the right bank of the Onega , about 215 kilometers south of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk . The nearest town Plesetsk is located about 223 kilometers northeast of Okrowski and is also the administrative center of Raion.
history
Oksowski was established in 1961 as a work settlement for the local forest industry , near the previously existing Nawolok railway station , which was then part of the Saoneschski Railway . With the development of large bauxite deposits near the emerging Severooneschsk settlement , the railway line from Navolok was extended over the Onega in the early 1970s. Since 2004 Oksowski has been the center of the municipality of Oksowskoje , which includes 16 other towns in addition to Oksowski.
