Leschukonskoje ( Russian Лешуко́нское ) is a village (Selo) in northwestern Russia . It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 4406 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). It is the administrative center of the Leschukonski rajon .
geography
Leschukonskoye is located about 250 km east of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk . It is located on the left side of the Vashka River , about two kilometers before its confluence with the Mesen River. The closest town is Mesen , about 125 km north of Leschukonskoje, at the mouth of the river of the same name .
history
In 1641 the village was first mentioned as the center of the Volost Ust-Vashka ( Усть-Вашка ). When the Leschukonski rajon was founded in 1929, Leschukonskoje became its center.
Since 2004, the city administrative center is the same rural community leshukonskoye ( Муниципальное образование "Лешуконское" ), in addition leshukonskoye ten villages ( bereznik , Bolshaya Nissogora , Jedoma , Karaschtschelje , Malaya Nissogora , Melospolje , Pylema , Russoma , Smolenez and Uschtschelje ) with a total of 4,693 inhabitants (As of 2010).

Economy and Infrastructure
As in all parts of the Rajon, the most important industry in Leschukonskoye is the forest industry and wood processing companies. Leschukonskoye Airport is located on the western edge of the village ( Аэропорт Лешуконское ). The Leschukonskoje Historical Local History Museum ( Лешуконский районный историко-краеведческий музей ) has been located in Leschukonskoje since 1984 . Furthermore, the place is owned by a music school and a library.
