Ujemski ( Russian Уемский ) is a settlement in northwestern Russia . It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 3742 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

Ujemski is located in Primorsk Raion , about 14 km south of the city center of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk . It is located on the right bank of the Northern Dvina , directly opposite the Ujemski river island of the same name . The Juras River flows through the northern part of the settlement .

history

Since 2004, Ujemski has been the administrative center of the rural community Ujemskoje ( Уемское сельское поселение ), which has 3,668 inhabitants and, in addition to Ujemski, includes the Juros settlement, as well as the villages of Drjachlitsyno, Kuropti and Malyje Korely, Ujemski was originally an urban-type settlement . The Oblast Assembly of Representatives decided in 2004 to change this status, so that Ujemski has since then had the status of a settlement ( посёлок ).

Economy and Transport

Several companies are located in the rural community. A brick factory has been located in Ujemski since 1929. There is also a poultry farm and a milk processing company. There is also a house of culture, a hospital, a school and a museum about folk art and crafts of the Pomors . In the village of Malyje Korely, bordering Ujemsky to the south, there is a well-known museum of wood construction and folk art of the northern regions of Russia .

The settlement is connected to Arkhangelsk by a road, through which there is a regular bus service.
