Malyje Korely
Malyje Korely ( Russian Ма́лые Коре́лы ) is an open-air museum near Arkhangelsk in northern Russia . The full name is State Museum of Wood Construction and Folk Art of the Northern Territories of Russia .
location
The museum is located on the right bank of the Northern Dvina near the confluence of the Korelka River , about 25 kilometers southeast of Arkhangelsk. The village near the museum is called Malyje Karely in a slightly different spelling . The museum occupies an area of 139.8 hectares.
The open-air museum is one of the main tourist attractions of Arkhangelsk. The Malyje Karely tourist complex (hotel and other facilities) and a ski stadium are nearby .
history
The museum was founded in 1964 and opened to visitors on June 1, 1973. The museum has been a member of the Association of European Open Air Museums since 1983 .
Since 1996 it has been in the State Register of Particularly Valuable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation . 2006 were Bank of Russia in honor of the museum is a 25- ruble - silver coin out.
collection
The museum includes around 100 wooden residential, administrative and church buildings, the oldest of which date back to the 16th century ( bell tower from the village of Kuliga-Drakowanowo). The Church of the Assumption ( Вознесенская церковь / Voznesenskaja zerkow) from the village of Kushereka and the Church of St. George ( Георгиевская церковь / Georgijewskaja zerkow) from the village of Verhinyzerkow date from the 17th century . The exhibits include farmers 'and traders' huts, warehouses , wells, enclosures, windmills , etc. The buildings were dismantled at their original locations and rebuilt in the museum using the original materials.
Depending on their origin, the exhibits are arranged in four sectors ( Kargopol - Onega , Northern Dvina , Mesen , Pinega ). Two more sectors, Pomorje and Waga , are currently being established.
