Juan Carlos Chávez Zárate (born January 18, 1967 in Zamora , Michoacán ), also known by the nickname La Pájara , is a Mexican soccer coach and former player who mainly played in midfield .

Life

"La Pájara" Chávez began his professional career in the 1988/89 season with Atlas Guadalajara , where he - in three stages - was under contract for most of his active career. He also played for one season each for Puebla FC (1991/92), CA Monarcas Morelia (1996/97) and in his final season as a professional footballer (1998/99) for CF Pachuca .

National team

Chavez made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on June 29, 1993 in a 2-0 win over Costa Rica. His second international match took place on June 4, 1994 against the USA (0-1). His third and last international appearance was in the 1994 World Cup game against Italy (1-1), where he came on for Luis García a few minutes before the end .

Trainer

Chavez has been coaching the Mexican U-20 national team since the beginning of 2009 .
