Zamora de Hidalgo is a city in the Mexican state of Michoacán , in the Meseta Neovolcánica , east of Lake Chapala . Zamora de Hidalgo is the administrative seat of the Municipio Zamora . A 2010 census showed that Zamora de Hidalgo has 141,627 residents.
The town mainly produces tobacco products and textiles.
Attractions
The church of Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ( Santuario Guadalupano for short ), built in the neo-Gothic style and consecrated in 2008, has the tallest spiers in Mexico with its two towers of 107.5 meters high.
history
On July 15, 2014, it became known that 453 children, including 6 small children under 3 years of age and 138 adults, were found neglected in the La Gran Familia home (The Big Family). These were sent to beg and sexually abused. The home's founder and eight other people were arrested. Five missing children were searched there after the authorities received initial information about this home a year ago.
