The Avalanche Corrie (English for avalanche cauldron ) is an ice-filled mountain cauldron on the south coast of Coronation Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located immediately north of Amphibolite Point .
The Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey carried out measurements between 1948 and 1949 and named the basin after the avalanches that emanate from the hanging glaciers above the basin.
