The Avanex Versicherungen AG , based in Dübendorf was the health insurance specialized Swiss insurance company of the Helsana Group .

Avanex was founded in 2001 and has been in the market since July 1, 2003 as an independently operating, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Helsana Group. With the brand harmonization of the Helsana Group on June 16, 2013, Avanex lost its own branding and has only communicated under the Helsana umbrella since then. It was merged with the basic insurance subsidiary Helsana on January 1, 2017.

Field of activity

The core business of Avanex is the compulsory basic insurance according to the Health Insurance Act and optional supplementary insurance for supplementary benefits in health care, hospital treatment, long-term care, dental treatment as well as loss of wages and capital insurance.
