The Aviation Islands ( Russian Острова Полярной Авиаций Ostrowa Polyarnoi Aviazi , German 'Islands of polar aviation' ) are a group of small, rocky islands off the Oates coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They are 3 miles north of Cape Kinsey and the Wilson Hills .
Soviet scientists made a mapping in 1958 and named the archipelago . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the name into English in 1964. The islands belong to the breeding areas of the Adelie penguins .
