The Aviator Nunatak is the northernmost three large nunatakker in the upper section of the Liv Glacier in the Queen Maud Mountains . It rises 4 miles east of Mount Wells .

The southern group of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1961–1962) named it after the pilots involved in the 1929 South Pole flight of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .
