Avisgutten is a statue in the Norwegian city ​​of Ålesund .

The statue is in Kongens gate in the center of Ålesund. According to her name Avisgutten , which means newspaper boy in German , she depicts a newspaper boy selling newspapers . The boy, shown walking and shouting, carries a bundle of newspapers under his left arm.

The statue was created by Arne Martin Hansen . It was a gift from the Sunnmørsposten newspaper to Ålesund City on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the city's charter in 1998.

In August 2011, the statue was vandalized . She was beheaded by strangers and torn from her anchorage. The statue has been restored and put back in its original place. On the night of March 28-29, 2019, vandalism occurred again, in which the figure was torn from the pedestal.
