Newspaper delivery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A newspaper delivery man is an employee (mostly on an independent basis) of a daily newspaper who delivers the current edition of the newspaper to the customer. In contrast to delivery by post , a newspaper is delivered much earlier in the day, usually in the early hours of the morning. The payment is based on the number of newspapers to be delivered and sometimes increases with the number of advertising inserts.

With the introduction of the German Minimum Wage Act, the minimum wage is also laid down for newspaper delivery people . However, as a transitional arrangement (in contrast to other industries), wages were still 25 percent below the minimum wage in 2015 and 15 percent in 2016. The managing director of the TAZ , Karl-Heinz Ruch, criticized this regulation: "I think the messengers will perhaps never get a minimum wage because then this profession will no longer exist."

A minimum wage in rural regions leads to job cuts or bogus self-employment. Furthermore, printed newspapers could be replaced by e-paper.
