Avision is a Taiwanese manufacturer of high performance scanners and key components for multifunction devices. It is represented worldwide, in Germany with its headquarters in Krefeld .

The company, headquartered in Hsinchu / Taiwan, was founded in 1991. There are production sites in Taiwan and the People's Republic of China . The capacities are geared to over 400,000 pieces per month. Avision has OEM partnerships with many leading scanner manufacturers. Avision has been selling its products in Europe since 1996, initially through a joint venture on the sales side. At the beginning of 2008, the newly founded Avision Europe GmbH, based in Krefeld, took over these tasks.
Company history
Avision Inc. was founded in April 1991 in Taiwan by a group of engineers. Right from the start, the company relied on technological development and strategic partnerships. As a result, the first OEM agreement with Fujitsu for the document scanner area was concluded in November 1992 . In the second business area, the key components for multifunctional devices, an OEM agreement with Xerox was initiated in 1994 . Today Avision works with many leading scanner manufacturers. Avision grew strongly in the second half of the 1990s. In 1997 annual sales were still USD 34 million, a year later it was already 108 million on the books. At the turn of the millennium it was 177 million, at the end of 2000 268 million. In order to be able to meet the increasing demand for products in the long term, Avision opened an additional production plant in Suzhou, China, at the end of 2001, now another one at this location.
The company has been listed on the Taipei Stock Exchange since December 1998. To meet global quality standards, Avision since 1993 according to ISO-9001 and since 2002 according to ISO-14001 certified . The scanner specialist has repeatedly received awards from the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs for particularly good product quality and sustainable growth.
Avision is represented worldwide. The products have been sold in Europe since 1996. Between 2001 and 2007 Avision Europe GmbH existed as a joint venture for Europe-wide sales. With the end of the agreement, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Avision Inc. From its headquarters in Krefeld, the company coordinates the entire distribution network in Europe and Turkey and is responsible for marketing. Avision also has its own maintenance and service center there, which also serves all European markets and is also available for OEM partners. The central warehouse has been in Hamburg since July 2010.

At the center of the range of devices are feeder and flatbed scanners for documents. The entry-level models include functions such as double-sided scanning and are designed for daily capacities between 2000 and 5000 pages. Features for quality correction when capturing poorly legible originals are also part of the equipment features.
A second focus of the offer are scan stations for use in networks. Different functional modes can be used with the models of the NetDeliver series, e.g. B. Scan-to-Mail, Scan-to-Server or digital copying. The scanners can be expanded to a central scanning and printing station with a laser printer . Avision offers multifunctional devices that bundle print, fax, copy and scan processes. However, these models are currently only available as OEM products.
Avision has made a name for itself in the scanner market because of its additional features. The special drivers for Mac OS X environments should be mentioned here . This allows different data formats such as TIFF, JPEG, JPEG2000, PNG, DjVu as well as single and multi-page PDFs to be generated directly. In addition, Avision u. a. special drivers (dual drivers), with which feeder and flatbed scanners can be operated as a single scanning unit, which helps to reduce the administrative effort for peripheral devices in the company and provides more options for the scanner equipment.

In the OEM segment, Avision has established itself as an important component manufacturer over the course of the company's history. Avision primarily addresses companies and authorities with its range of standalone and network scanners. Avision u. Cooperates in these customer segments. a. closely with the Laufenburg special distributor BHS Binkert. Both companies have a longstanding partnership.
For Avision, the potential for its own solutions on the market lies in the increasing spread of professional document management systems (DMS) . Legal requirements are increasingly forcing companies to store documents using standardized IT processes. Document capture plays an increasingly important role in meeting these requirements . As a manufacturer with a traditionally high proportion of research and development services, Avision has accompanied the relevant technologies from the start and made them usable for its own products.
