Avogadro is an ancient crater located in the northern hemisphere, but on the far side of the moon . It has the coordinates 63 ° 06 'N 164 ° 54' E and has an average diameter of 139 km. It was named after Amedeo Avogadro .

As a result of constant further impacts, the formation presents itself in a heavily eroded and eroded state, so that the edge is little more than a rounded corner that surrounds the crater depression. The crater floor is also worn out and littered with a multitude of smaller craters of various sizes. Many of these small craters are also eroded and appear only as a dull imprint on the surface.

Notable craters that are close to Avogadro are the Tikhov crater, which adjoins the southeastern rim, the Oberth crater in the west and the Schjellerup crater in the north-northwest direction. The Yamamoto , located south-southwest, and also the large D'Alembert crater in the south are further striking impact points in the immediate vicinity of the Avogadro crater.

As a rule, the letter on the side of the crater center point which is closest to the Avogadro crater can be found on moon maps.
