Axel Müller (* 24. July 1963 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German lawyer and politician of the CDU and since 2017 a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1983, Axel Müller completed his military service and then began studying law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . As a young trainee lawyer, he came to Upper Swabia in 1989. In 1992 he joined the judicial service of Baden-Württemberg and worked as a public prosecutor. From 2000 to 2011 he spoke law at the Ravensburg Regional Court , with a temporary secondment to the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court. This was followed by three years of activity as deputy director of the Tettnang District Court , and then from 2014 until the move into the German Bundestag as presiding judge at the Ravensburg District Court.

Müller completed a mediator training at the Center for Conflict Management at the University of Tübingen ZfKM as well as advanced training in family mediation (BAFM). He is a full member of the Federal Working Group for Family Mediation (BAFM).

Private

Müller grew up in a family of craftsmen in Nürtingen. He lives in Weingarten and is single. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Roman Catholic parish council of St. Martin in Weingarten and of the deanery council. He is a member of the Blood Friday Community and the Weingarten Blood Rider Group. Müller sits on the board of the Weingarten music association and was chairman of the Ravensburg probation association for four years. He is also a member of numerous other local associations. His hobbies are running and racing cycling and maintaining and repairing classic cars in his own workshop.

The Catholic Axel Müller is a member of the parish council of Sankt Martin in Weingarten and of the deanery council of the Allgäu-Oberschwaben. He is also an active member of Kolping, the Maltese and on the board of the Weingarten Music Association. Club memberships in the gymnastics and sports club Weingarten as well as the carnival guilds "Plätzlerzunft" and "Bockstallnarren", member of the partnership club Weingarten-Mantua, the probation aid club and the club to promote the Swabian dialect.

Political career

Axel Müller has been chairman of the CDU City Association of Weingarten since 2008 . From 2010 to 2018 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Ravensburg. From 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the board of the CDU district association of Württemberg-Hohenzollern. Müller was a member of Weingarten's municipal council from 2009 to 2018 and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there from 2014. He has also been a member of the Ravensburg District Council since 2010 .

In the 2017 federal election , Axel Müller won the direct mandate for the Ravensburg constituency with 38.5% . In the 19th electoral term, Müller is a full member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection, the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on European Union Affairs. Axel Müller is also a member of the advisory committee for issues relating to German Sinti and Roma at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the parliamentary control committee , the committee under Article 13 (6) of the Basic Law (housing surveillance) and the advisory board on the recognition of former German forced laborers (advisory board under Section 9 the guideline on the payment of a recognition benefit to former German forced laborers). Within the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, he is involved in the legal and consumer protection working group, the domestic and domestic working group, the workers' group, the SME parliamentary group, the group of expellees, resettlers and German minorities and the local politics working group.

Müller is the CDU / CSU parliamentary group's rapporteur on the legal committee for the code of criminal procedure and other procedural provisions, for family law and parliamentary processes in the committee for the environment, nature conservation, building and reactor safety and the committee for human rights and humanitarian aid. On the inside, he is the rapporteur for questions of Jewish life, the fight against anti-Semitism and minorities as well as for basic domestic political issues.
