Axel Schacher

Axel Schacher (* 1981 in Paris ) is a Swiss-French violinist .

Life

Schacher received his first violin lessons at the age of four. Four years later he won first prize in the Lutèce competition and, at the age of twelve, the Royaume de la Musique prize. Shortly afterwards he was allowed to play E. Lalo's Spanish Symphony on the radio with the orchestra of the Garde Républicaine . At the age of thirteen he entered the Paris Conservatory with Boris Garlitzki. In 1998 Schacher was awarded the first prize by the city of Paris. He graduated with honors. In 2000 Schacher won the second prize of the International Tibor Varga Competition and two awards for the best interpretation. Since 2003 he has played in many chamber music ensembles at various festivals in France. Schacher is currently first concertmaster in the Basel Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Belcea Quartet.
