Ayenwolde is a place in the municipality of Moormerland in the district of Leer in East Frisia .

It is already mentioned in the Münster parish registers of the 15th century as Aldingewalde. In the will of chief Wiard von Oldersum of November 22nd, 1461 it is called Alingewolda. Chief Wiard bequeathed 4,000 bricks and roof tiles to the church of St. Maria Magdalena to build a bell tower and a few oxen.

With the Reformation, Ayenwolde ceased to be a separate parish. In 1566 the church was demolished. The church throw with graves still reminds of the location of the church. Since then it has formed a parish with the town of Hatshausen . Both villages built a new church with the same name on the shared village boundary .

In the Christmas flood of 1717, the pastore was washed away.

A café has now been set up in the “Alte Küsterei”.
