Aygen-Sibel Çelik

Aygen-Sibel Çelik (* 1969 in Istanbul ) is a German author for children and young people .

Born in Turkey, she has lived in Germany since she was two. Important stages of their biography are a six-year stay in her hometown, the study of children's books Research in Frankfurt and an editorial volontariat and various internships in educational and journalistic area. She worked for several years as an editor for a specialist magazine. As a freelance writer, she has written numerous articles and reviews on the representation of the foreign in children's and youth literature. Today she writes books for children and young people herself and gives children courses in creative writing.

After editing the media combinations of songs for on the go , songs for autumn days and songs for good night in 2004 and writing read-aloud stories and songs for them, her youth books Sinan and Felix and Seidenhaar were published in 2007 , both of which deal with intercultural topics for children and young people. In 2006 she was nominated for the fire pen , the city ​​writer 's scholarship for children's and young adult literature from the city of Mannheim , with the exposé for mysterious news . In the same year she received a working grant from the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art for the novel Seidenhaar , which in 2009 was also awarded the Reading Peter of the Month by the Education and Science Union. For her planned youth novel with the working title Mercan and Arif , Çelik received the renowned Grenzgänger grant from the Berlin Literary Colloquium and the Robert Bosch Foundation in 2014. In 2014 she was selected for the literature and reading promotion program Werkprobe NRW 2015/16 of the NRW Kultursekretariat (Wuppertal) and the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh. In the same year Sinan and Felix were awarded the honorary prize “Best Book” by the first KIBUM children's jury in Oldenburg.

Çelik lives and works in Düsseldorf and has been a member of the advisory board for literature at the cultural office of the state capital since 2015.
