Ayouba Ali Sihame (born August 15, 1994 in Itsandra Mdjini ) is a Comorian swimmer.

Life

Ayouba Ali Sihame took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the 100 m freestyle competition and finished in 48th place. After that race, she went into hiding in London because her parents had sold her to a 60-year-old man who already had two wives and was trying to capitalize on the Olympian's fame. Sihame later claimed that living homeless on the streets of London was her only chance to avoid this fate. Under the false name of Mouniate Mhoussini , she tried to leave Great Britain via the English Channel to France, but the British border guards noticed the false papers and arrested Sihame. In January 2013, she confessed to using false documents and was sentenced to eight months in prison. She was then deported and applied for asylum through her lawyer because she feared for her life in her home country.
