Azan stain

The Azan stain is a histological overview stain . The name is made up of the two color components Az okarmin G and An ilinblau -Goldorange. The coloring was developed by the German anatomist Martin Heidenhain (1864–1949), but there are several variations of this coloring technique.

With the Azan staining, cell nuclei ( chromatin ) and the cytoplasm are stained red, glia reddish, mucus blue and collagen and reticular fibers dark blue.
