St. Lambertus und St. Laurentius is a Catholic parish church in Langenberg in East Westphalia in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . Structurally, it belongs to the Reckenberg Pastoral Association in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
The oldest part of the parish church of St. Lambertus and St. Laurentius in Langenberg is the Romanesque church tower , which was built around 1200. The current central nave and the tower spire were built in the late Gothic style between 1478 and 1510. At the end of the 19th century the church building was too small for the community and the neo-Gothic aisles were added in 1892/94 . In 2006 the tower was protected against the weathering that had already progressed with slurry plaster.
Originally the church and parish were under the patronage of St. Laurentius . In the course of time, however, a veneration of St. Lambertus . When the Reckenberg office passed from the Diocese of Osnabrück to the Archdiocese of Paderborn in 1821 , St. Lambertus was established as the first church patron.
Facility
A Romanesque font from 1220/40 has been preserved from the first church building. After the central nave had been rebuilt by 1510, a crucifixion group around 1515, a ray Madonna around 1520 and the sacrament house from 1523 were brought into the church.
With the neo-Gothic extension, altars and choir windows in this style were built into the church from 1892 to 1900. After the Second Vatican Council , the church received a new celebration altar and a corresponding stand crucifix in 1969 . In 1991 the old high altar was reassembled from fragments and placed in the church.
