Azerbaijan International Operating Company
The Azerbaijan International Operating Company ( AIOC ) is a consortium founded in Azerbaijan in September 1994 which, under the leadership of BP, originally comprised eleven and now ten oil companies.
The original consortium partners were:

- Statoil ( Norway )
- Exxon (USA)
- Turkish Petroleum ( Turkey )
- Pennzoil (USA)
- Itochu ( Japan )
- Ramco
- Delta Oil
- Amerada Hess (USA)
In 1999 BP took over the chairmanship of the consortium and holds the largest share of 17 percent. The aim of diversification is to prevent foreign oil companies from representing the interests of the respective government .
