Point of attack 2 in sterol synthesis

The conazoles or azole fungicides are a large group of fungicides . They work by inhibiting the C14 demethylase in the ergosterol biosynthesis (DMIs from English Demethylation Inhibitors ). Conazoles have a broad spectrum of activity and often a systemic effect. In contrast to older active ingredients, they require significantly lower application rates (approx. 20 to 250 g · ha −1 ).

According to their chemical structure, they can be divided into triazoles and imidazoles .
