Azza Filali

Azza Filali ( Arabic عزة الفيلالي, DMG ʿAzza al-Fīlālī ; * 1952 ) is a Tunisian writer who writes in French .

She is Professor of Gastroenterology at La Rabta Hospital in Tunis and has had a Masters in Philosophy from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne since 2009 .

Since 1991 she has published various French-language novels, essays and short stories. For her novel L'heure du cru (2009) she was awarded the Prix spécial du jury Comar in 2010.

The setting of her most recent novel Ouatann (Heimat) is pre-revolutionary Tunisia in 2008. She received the Prix Comar d'Or 2012 for this book.
