Békuy is both a commune ( commune rurale in French ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso , in the Hauts-Bassins region and in the Tuy province . The community has 16,484 inhabitants.

In Békuy remains and still well-preserved furnaces of a historical iron smelter were found, which are evidence of massive iron production from the 11th century. Because of their importance as cultural evidence, these finds, along with other sites in Burkina Faso, were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019 under the title "Historic iron smelting sites" .
