The Böhmerstraße in a short street in Wittlich between Himmeroder Straße and Oberstraße.

history

The name originally comes from the Jews of Wittlich who immigrated from Bohemia . It has been on record since 1316; a settlement on today's Böhmerstrasse was mentioned as early as the 13th century .

building

Only the corner house, which is located on the corner of Himmeroder Straße 12 and Böhmerstraße, still refers to the once medieval development in the late Gothic twin windows that have been preserved. The chapel of the St. Wendelin Hospital, which was adjoined to the south, was used as a cult room from 1831 to 1910. The buildings on Böhmerstraße were badly damaged in the Second World War and then heavily decimated.

Also worth mentioning are the two narrow-chested, three-story houses, the axes of which have been pulled together to form a duplex. They probably come from the first half of the 19th century and were modernized around 1900. The buildings are exemplary for inner-city residential buildings from the early 19th century.
