In 1923, as a result of the French occupation of the Ruhr area, a branch was established in Bielefeld - the location of today's company headquarters. In the second generation with Josef Böllhoff, there was a specialization in screws, nuts and threaded parts. In 1952 Böllhoff acquired a license for the manufacture and sale of HELICOIL thread inserts and set up its first own production facility in Bielefeld. With the entry of Dr. Wolfgang W. Böllhoff, 1959, (third generation) in the company began the internationalization of Böllhoff. Today in the fourth generation, the Böllhoff Group is represented worldwide at 39 locations with 45 companies and 13 production sites in 24 countries. Böllhoff expanded its presence in Asia in 2016 by opening sales offices in Japan and South Korea. In 2019, the supraregional central warehouses in Oelsnitz / Vogtland in Saxony and in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac in France will go into operation.
