Citizen Medal of the City of Nuremberg

The citizen medal of the city of Nuremberg is awarded for special services to Nuremberg . Persons proposed by the mayor , the city council parliamentary groups or public corporations can be awarded the citizen's medal after the advice of the council of elders and a city council resolution. The medal is awarded in a solemn form at a city council meeting.

The citizen's medal is made of gold. The Nuremberg city coat of arms can be seen on the front, the words "For outstanding merits" and the name of the recipient are on the back.

The citizen medal has been awarded since 1960 on the initiative of the then mayor Andreas Urschlechter . 147 people had been awarded by 2009.
